Its safe to say that Northwest legend Kibo is back with a vengeance, after taking some time away from releasing music he dropped 2022’s most dynamic and eclectic project; FBFR - Feugo Baby Furtardo Returnz, With cuts sampling everything from botched X-factor auditions to a Lloyds TSB advert. Kibo is undoubtedly one of the most electric live MC’s in London right now, Well recognised for inconceivable radio freestyles that will go for as long as they can broadcast.

Hailing from Lewisham, In a short amount of time Namani has expanded his following from London to Brighton as if he were playing the rap games equivalent to Risk. With a catalogue of hits spanning from the sunny day anthem Sommer Rays, to the explosive Jersey House and Brent Fiaz sample infused COMPLACENT?!#To Brightons very own two-step anthem B-TOWN BABY.

Moulded by their Edinburgh surroundings, swim school absorb influence from a wide range of genres; from 90’s grunge to modern indie and dream-pop. The release of their 2021 critically acclaimed debut EP, ‘making sense of it all’ saw vocalist & guitarist Alice Johnson enter the same space occupied by the likes of Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice) and Juliette Jackson (The Big Moon) – tackling delicate subjects with a vibrant yet evocative presence.

2021 also saw the band perform at Latitude Festival, All Points East and TRNSMT Festival, as well as support slots for Declan McKenna, The Snuts and Coach Party, and a storming live sets for BBC Introducing. 

2022 has so far seen swim school make another massive leap forward. Recently signed to tastemaker LAB Records, praised by key titles including NME, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, DORK, and Under The Radar and having the sort of  summer festival run that is the envy of many more established artists. 

And in amongst it all, they have recorded their next EP (and first on LAB)  'Duality' with producer Iain Berryman (Wolf Alice, Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon, Hozier). The first single from that EP comes on November 16th in the shape of the haunting yet gripping 'Kill You'. The song showcases everything to love about swim school - soaring guitar soundscapes, hooks galore and a massive chorus.

Deema

It’s hard to work out what feels more exciting about 21-year-old rapper, Deema. The fact that his borderless approach to the rap is something that feels like it could only exist in Today’s forward-thinking urban landscape. “I just try and make every song I do different to the last one,” he explains. Or the reassuring fact that amongst a now expansive UK rap culture splintering into cross-pollinating street sounds, a fresh-faced new name can raise his head with a flow that somehow feels just timeless. 

Following his explosive debut EP ‘Chew Your Food’ in 2020, which tore its way across streaming playlists, press and radio, which, for a bit of context, saw Deema claiming five separate tracks all in the same Spotify ‘Fresh Finds Hip Hop’ at the same time! Including the No. 1 spot with anthem ‘Hash Brown’. Media champions ranged from the likes Toddla T and Jamz Supernova to FADER, Complex and NME. The EP dexterously showcased Deema’s trademark versatility, taking us from party-bound bass-quakes like ‘Hash Brown’ to conscious bangers like ‘Rat Race’, which attempts to dissect the meaning of it all... Now he’s readying the release of of next opus, ‘Rainbow’, that’s set to take things to the next level and beyond, staying true to both his hip-hop stylings and grime roots, but hinting at a crossover ambition that looks set to make him one of 2021’s true breakthrough stars.

Kish!

Since 2017, South London bred creative Kish Fantastic has worked to become a beacon of the UK alternative rap scene. Like many internet-bred artists, Kish!’s style is a melting pot of influences, fusing elements of grime, trap, UK drill and alternative hip-hop to create a slick style punctuated by his percussive flow and witty lyricism.

Over the last few years, Kish! has built an impressive discography, his Bandcamp proving to be a treasure trove of hidden gems including the likes of 2017 EP Flagrant Death. The consistent quality of his output coupled with wacky music videos that ooze creativity, have helped him amass a cult following, but going forward Kish! is hoping to transcend the niche space he currently occupies

Everything this creative does is driven by a DIY ethos and an industriousness comparable to leaders of influential collectives such as Tyler, The Creator of Odd Future and Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract. Like them, Kish! plays by his own rules and it’s not hard to imagine him going on to reshape the scene around him in a similar fashion, tossing conventions aside with his clique in tow

From Young G to OG, Self proclaimed Camden lad PK has remained a cutting edge barrer ever since his emergence onto the scene. Part of the seminal grime collective YGG; consisting of lyrical casanova Saint P, Punchline powerhouse Lyrical Strally and an MC whose flow can only be described as 50/50 Energy and Venom; PK. From success to success PK has performed at the likes of KOKO, Fabric and Eskimo dance, held his birthday live on Radar Radio and Shared stages with other Grime legends such as D Double E, Mez, Manga saint hilare and AJ Tracey. Reek0

The upwards trajectory Tottenham MC and Producer Reek0 has seen is as steep as it is well deserved. Fresh, Spirited and above all else Innovative; Reek0s warm and sagely lyrics pair with his choppy, off kilter production style to create a sound reminiscent of so many genres, yet comparable to none.
